Sunken Cuddy Cabin Recovery in Ocala

The owner's 21 ft Thompson 21 cuddy cabin had its outdrive pulled and never reinstalled, and the hole in the transom was plugged with plywood and sealant. That patch gave out on the mooring over a few rainy days, and she settled with the deck awash and the bow slightly up.
The obstacle was access. The bank was soft clay, no truck could get near the water, and about ten gallons of old fuel still sat in the tank. We drained the fuel into drums first, then sealed the transom opening from outside with a board and foam so the water would stop coming back in.
Two pumps cleared the cabin while the crew floated her up on air and walked her to a hard ramp. That sunken boat recovery ran about four hours. The hull was tired, and a rebuild made no sense, so she rode to our yard near Marion Oaks for dismantling and recycling. A skiff made the short tow, and the hardware went out as salvage.

Crews cover Marion County: Liberty Triangle, Marion Oaks, On Top Of The World, and Silver Springs Shores. When a boat goes under in Ocala or any of those towns, we plan the recovery the same week, sort out the depth and access by photo, and get a crew on site as soon as the water and the schedule allow.
