28 ft Bertram Removal in Paterson, NJ

A 28 ft Bertram 28 sportfisher sat in a Paterson yard with both twin engines seized and the cockpit sole rotted through. No trailer underneath it. The hull had been sitting long enough that the fiberglass had started to fail where water pooled, and the owner had finally accepted it wasn't coming back. Getting it out meant hauling a 12,000-pound fiberglass hull without wheels or a way to roll it. The yard was tight, with a fence line on one side and a neighbor's property close on the other. We brought in a heavy-duty winch setup and a flatbed, positioned the truck in the street, and worked the Bertram inch by inch onto the trailer using come-alongs anchored to the fence posts. Most of a morning, no damage to the boat or the property line. Once it was loaded and secured, we routed it to the processor in Passaic County where the fiberglass gets cut down and sorted. Title paperwork was handled per New Jersey salvage rules. The yard owner watched it drive away and didn't have to think about it again.
