Hauling a pontoon out of a Rocky Mount salvage job

A 22 ft Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 sat in a residential yard in Edgecombe County, the deck boards soft and spongy, the aluminum rail bent along the starboard side. No trailer underneath. The pontoon had been there long enough that the owner stopped counting the seasons, and the neighbor route heading toward Tarboro made access tight,narrow driveway, power lines overhead, and a soft shoulder that wouldn't hold the weight of a full recovery rig. We brought a lighter crane unit in first to assess the hull and clear the power lines from above. The deck was too compromised to bear rigging points safely, so we built a custom cradle that distributed the load across the pontoons themselves. Once we had the boat stable and lifted clear, the real work was the extraction,backing the trailer in with inches to spare on both sides, then securing the pontoon for the haul north to our yard. Start to finish, most of a morning. No title in the drawer, handled per North Carolina rules. By early afternoon, the yard was clear and the boat was on our lot. Crews cover all of Edgecombe County: Tarboro, Sharpsburg, Princeville, Pinetops, Whitakers, Macclesfield. We move boats out same week most of the time. A lot of owners around Rocky Mount store their boats inland during winter and move them back to the water come spring, so we stay busy handling that rotation. One call gets you on the schedule.
