Hauling a sportfisher out of a Severn salvage job

A 28 ft Bertram 28 sportfisher came to us in Severn with twin engines seized solid and the cockpit sole rotted through to the stringers. The boat had been sitting without a trailer for years, cradled on makeshift blocks that had settled into the mud. No title in the drawer, handled per the Maryland salvage rules. Getting it out meant we couldn't just winch and load. The hull was too compromised to take a standard lift, and the location had maybe eight feet of side clearance before a fence line. We brought a spreader frame and four-point bridle, set it on the trailer in sections to distribute the weight, and routed the whole rig out toward Glen Burnie to the processor. Most of a morning from first chains to last bolt. The Bertram went to the recycler as fiberglass scrap. The blocks came out, the mud got raked clean, and the property was done with it. Crews cover all of Anne Arundel County: Glen Burnie, Odenton, Annapolis, Severna Park, Pasadena, Crofton. We pick up same week most of the time, and we know the seasonal rhythm around here, boats moving in and out of storage facilities, slips filling up in spring, people clearing their yards before winter. Call with the address and the size, and we'll tell you what day we can be there.
