Sunken Pontoon Recovery in Ruskin

Deck boards gone spongy, rail bent. The 22 ft Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 pontoon was tired long before the water got to it.
She settled by the stern on her mooring, bow pointing up, after a wet week filled the rear tube through a split weld. The obstacle was the deck. With the boards soft, you cannot attach a lifting strap anywhere on top, so we passed straps around the tubes and used lift bags between them. The skiff held position while the bags filled in turn, rear first.
We were on site about four hours. A short tow brought her to a ramp and then toward Apollo Beach on a trailer. The deck and furniture were finished, so she went to our yard. The aluminum tubes and rails go to salvage, the rest is broken down and recycled. Sunken boat recovery for a pontoon ends like this more often than not.

Crews cover Hillsborough County: Apollo Beach, Bloomingdale, Brandon, and Cheval. A call about a pontoon on the bottom in Ruskin gets a crew and a work skiff on the schedule that same week. Reaching a boat sunk at its mooring is a skiff job, which keeps shore access from being a limit. The raise comes first, then we decide with the owner where it goes next.
