Sunken Sailboat Recovery in Asbury Lake

The 25 ft O'Day 25 had keel bolts weeping rust down the hull for a couple of seasons. One morning her owner found her on the mooring with the gunwales level with the water.
Sunken boat recovery on a sailboat is mostly patience, and this one proved it. If the bolts let go mid-lift, the ballast can drop right through the hull. So we slowed down. A diver ran a strap beneath the keel and tied it off to the lift points, and only then did we bring up the lift bags. We kept the strap on until she was on the hard.
Half a day on site. The tow to the ramp was short, and Green Cove Springs was the next stop on the road for the trailer. The hull was fine, but the bolts were past saving, so the O'Day went to a repair yard for a keel rebuild. That is a salvage worth doing.

Crews cover Clay County: Bellair Meadowbrook Terrace, Fleming Island, Green Cove Springs, Keystone. Moored boats depend on a calm morning, so we watch the forecast and book the same week whenever the water allows. A work skiff is the platform, and the truck waits at the nearest ramp with a trailer rated for a keel boat.
