Greenacres, FL: 28 ft Bertram 28 Off the Bottom in One Morning

The call about the 28 ft Bertram 28 came with a short list: twin engines dead and a cockpit sole gone soft. She was tied off at a public ramp shallows, and a failed bilge pump finished her. Deck awash, bow slightly up, the hull was still holding her shape.
Fuel aboard was the concern. A sportfisher this size can hold a few dozen gallons in the tanks, and any sheen on a public ramp brings questions fast. We boomed the area, drained the tanks through the deck fill before lifting, and then set bags at the gunwales. The soft cockpit sole meant we kept the straps off the floor and under the frames.
The job took about four hours. She went by trailer tow toward Boca Raton to a repair yard that wanted the hull for a rebuild. The salvage on a Bertram is real, and the sunken boat recovery left the ramp clean and open.

Crews cover Palm Beach County: Delray Beach, Jupiter, The Acreage, Belle Glade, Palm Beach Gardens, and Boca Raton. Whenever a vessel is lost to the water anywhere across the county, a diver and a workboat are what we aim to send within seven days. A few photos and a rough depth are all we need, and we will cover the steps and the destination of the hull.
