Bradenton, FL: 20 ft Sylvan Mirage 20 Off the Bottom in One Morning

Pontoons look simple until you meet the logs. The 20 ft Sylvan Mirage 20 had pontoons stained at the waterline and furniture rotted to the frames. It took on water through a pinhole in one log, and when we got there, the deck was awash with the bow only slightly up in a slip.
Pinholes matter. Raise a log with a hole in it and it simply refills. Our diver found the leak and plugged it, and then we brought the boat up with lift bags on each side. The slip was tight, but a pontoon is flat, so we could keep the lift level and stay clear of the pilings.
About three hours on site. The tow was a short one around the dock. The rotted furniture and the pitted log went to our yard for dismantling and recycling, while the aluminum went to scrap. No salvage beyond the metal, but the slip was clear by lunch and the sunken boat removal was done.

Crews cover Manatee County: Bayshore Gardens, Memphis, Palmetto, South Bradenton. Our trucks pass through these towns on the way to the yard, which is why a slip job can usually go on the schedule inside the same week. We check the dock layout beforehand so nothing surprises the crew, and the haul runs a short flat route.
