A 27 ft Catalina 27 sailboat had been sitting on jack stands in a driveway in West Sacramento for years. The standing rigging was seized solid, and the sails were rotted inside their bag. The owner had inherited the boat from a relative and never used it, and eventually the boat became something he walked past without really seeing it anymore. The trailer was on stands, not wheels, which meant we couldn't just back a truck up and winch it out. We'd need to get the boat level, assess the keel, and figure out how to move a fiberglass hull that hadn't been moved in over a decade. The crew arrived early one morning and spent most of the morning getting the boat secured and rigged for transport. We dropped the mast, pulled the keel at our yard, and cut the hull down for processing. No title was in the drawer, so we handled the paperwork per California rules.
