Hauling a runabout out of a Apopka lot

An 18 ft Starcraft Holiday 18 sat in an Apopka driveway for three years, aluminum hull riveted and weeping slowly into the dirt below the trailer. The single axle underneath had rusted through in spots, and the tires had long since gone flat. The owner had moved to Winter Garden, left the boat behind, and never came back for it. No title in the drawer. We got the call from the property manager who'd inherited the problem. The real issue wasn't the boat itself. It was the trailer. We couldn't tow it as-is, and we couldn't load the hull onto our deck without risking a collapse. We came out with a small crane, lifted the Starcraft off the failing frame, and set it on our flatbed. The whole operation took most of a morning. The trailer stayed behind for local scrap. The hull went to the metal recycler in Orange County. Aluminum's aluminum, even when it's been sitting. We handled the title paperwork per Florida rules and sent the owner documentation that it was gone. We cover all of Orange County: Orlando, Alafaya, Pine Hills, Horizon West, Ocoee, Winter Garden. Most pickups happen same week. Apopka sits right in the middle of our route, so when a 18-footer needs to come off a trailer or out of storage, we're already moving through Apopka. Seasonal moves are common here, boats going in and out of storage facilities around the lakes. We handle that timing without the back-and-forth calls.
