Boat Wreck Removal in Groton, CT

Two hurricanes came through before anyone called us about that Whaler. It had ridden out the first storm fine, tied off at a mooring, but the second one snapped the line and drove the hull up against a seawall hard enough to crack the transom. The owner had been meaning to sell it before hurricane season even started, price already dropped once with no takers. Water got in through the crack and the boat sat half swamped for weeks afterward while the owner sorted out whether it was worth fixing. It wasn't. Reaching the boat was the hard part, it had wedged itself between rocks at the base of the seawall where our trailer couldn't get anywhere close. We ended up using a portable winch anchored to a nearby piling to drag it onto flat ground before loading it conventionally. Boston Whalers have foam-filled hulls that don't fully sink, which made the recovery easier than it could have been. It went to the recycler as scrap.
