Hauling a runabout out of a Canton storage lot

A 16 ft Glastron Swinger sat in a Canton driveway for years. The original orange metal-flake had dulled to grey, and the single-axle trailer underneath had bent so far out of true that the whole rig listed to one side. The owner had stopped using it sometime in the early 2000s, kept meaning to sell it, and eventually just stopped thinking about it altogether. When we arrived, the real problem wasn't the boat itself,it was that the trailer had seized. The axle wouldn't budge, and the tires had flat-spotted so badly they wouldn't roll. We couldn't just winch it straight onto the flatbed. Instead, we had to lift the trailer frame off the ground with airbags, break the axle free with hydraulic pressure, and then slide the whole assembly onto the truck. The job took most of a morning, but we got it loaded and hauled it to the processor in Dearborn, where the hull was cut down for recycling. Crews cover all of Wayne County: Detroit, Dearborn, Livonia, Westland, Taylor, Dearborn Heights. Most pickups happen within the same week. We see a lot of seasonal storage moves in and out of the marinas around Canton, so we've built the schedule to handle boats coming off the water in fall and going back in spring without the long wait.
