An 18 ft Starcraft Holiday 18 had been sitting in a Dearborn driveway for three years. The aluminum runabout had a slow leak history and a riveted hull that had seen better days, but what made the job tricky was the trailer underneath it. Single axle, rusted through in spots, tires flat and seized. The boat wasn't going anywhere without serious work, and the owner wasn't interested in serious work anymore. The whole operation took most of a morning. Once we had it secure, we hauled it down to the metal recycler in Wayne County, where the aluminum got sorted, weighed, and fed into the processing line.
