25 ft O'Day Removal in Detroit, MI

This 25 ft O'Day 25 had been sitting on stands in a Wayne County driveway long enough for the keel bolts to weep rust down the hull in long orange streaks. The owner had planned a rebuild that never got past the planning stage, and once the boat missed a second launch season it just became part of the yard. Rust stains on white fiberglass aren't dangerous on their own, but weeping keel bolts usually mean the keel joint is due for real attention, and nobody wants to sail that. Getting it out was slower than a normal trailer pull because the boat had been on stands so long that we had to check the trailer axles and tires before trusting them for the short haul out toward Dearborn. Most of a morning went into leveling, re-seating the hull on the trailer, and easing it down the driveway without stressing that keel joint further. No title in the drawer, handled per the Michigan page rules. Back at our yard the mast came down first, then the keel got pulled separately since that's where the real problem was.
