Fresno, CA: 18 ft Starcraft Holiday Gone in One Morning

This one was an 18 ft Starcraft Holiday 18, a riveted aluminum runabout that had been fighting a slow leak for years before the owner gave up bailing it out after every rain. It sat on a rusted single axle trailer at the back of a Fresno County yard, close enough to the fence line that our truck couldn't get a straight shot at it. We ended up backing in twice, angling the tow chain around a support post to get the trailer tongue lined up. The axle hadn't turned in a long time and one hub was frozen solid, so we jacked that corner and skated it sideways onto the ramp instead of rolling it. Took most of a morning once we factored in the maneuvering. There was no title in the drawer, so that got handled per the California page rules before we loaded anything. Route out went past Clovis on the way to the yard. Once the hull was off the trailer we could see the rivet lines had opened up in a couple spots along the keel, nothing worth patching at that point. The aluminum went straight to the metal recycler, trailer frame included. Crews cover all of Fresno County: Clovis, Sanger, Reedley, Selma, Coalinga, Kerman. Most Starcraft pickups get scheduled the same week you call, no long wait to get that trailer out of your driveway. A lot of our Fresno runs happen right after someone pulls a boat out of seasonal storage and realizes it's not worth fixing up, so we build our routes around those yards and storage lots year-round.
