East Lake, FL: 24 ft Bayliner 2455 Ciera Off the Bottom in One Morning

Nobody noticed the 24 ft Bayliner 2455 Ciera going down, because the green algae line on her chalky hull looked the same as it always had. One morning the dock attendant found her deck awash in the slip with the bow tipped up.
The trouble was fuel. She still carried half a tank of gasoline, with boats close on both sides. We laid sorbent boom around the slip before touching anything, then ran two trash pumps from the dock and let the level come down slowly while a diver closed the leaking through-hull. Once she floated we walked her out on lines by hand. The short tow to the fuel dock was the only time an engine ran.
Sunken boat recovery like this takes about three hours when the fuel gets handled first. The hull was sound under the chalk and the engine turned over after a flush, so she went on a trailer to a repair yard in Largo for an owner who wanted her back. That is salvage worth writing down.

Crews cover Pinellas County: Clearwater, Dunedin, Largo, Oldsmar. A boat under water in a slip usually gets a site visit within a day and a raise the same week. We stage in the northern county, so the run to a repair yard is rarely more than half an hour, even on a Friday.
