Hampton, VA: 22 ft Catalina Gone in One Morning

A 22 ft Catalina 22 sat in a Hampton driveway with its mast lashed down to the deck, a rig that had been horizontal for years. The swing-keel trailer underneath had flat tires and wasn't going anywhere under its own power. The boat wasn't abandoned,the owner knew it was there,but life had moved on and the sailboat had become a permanent fixture. Getting it out meant dealing with a trailer that couldn't roll and a hull that needed to come off the keel frame at our yard. We brought a heavy-duty wrecker, loaded the whole rig as one unit, and hauled it inland to our facility in the Newport News area. The job ran under two hours on site. Once we had it, the mast came off first, then we pulled the swing keel. The fiberglass hull got cut down and routed to the processor. Title paperwork was straightforward per Virginia rules.
