Hauling a sailboat out of a Reston driveway

A 26 ft MacGregor 26 sailboat had been sitting in a Reston driveway for three years. The cabin was mildewed, the rudder was missing, and the owner had stopped walking past it. The trailer was still serviceable, which helped, but the boat was wedged between two mature oaks and a fence line that didn't leave much room to maneuver a tow rig. We came in from the Centreville side to avoid backing through the neighborhood. The crew dropped the mast first, then we had to unbolt the keel at our yard because the hull was too tall to clear the residential streets otherwise. Once the keel was out and the mast stowed, the boat was light enough to load without a second winch. The whole job ran most of a morning. No title in the drawer, so we handled the paperwork per the Virginia rules. The hull went to the processor for fiberglass recycling.
