The Boston Whaler in that Yorktown driveway outlasted two engines and one bad paint job before the family gave up on it. They'd tried once to sell it with the original motor still attached, but the buyer backed out after a rough survey, and not long after that the replacement engine cooked its powerhead on a bad fuel mix. Nobody had the appetite to sink more money into a third motor, so it sat engine-less after that, foam core in the hull soaking up rainwater through a crack nobody patched. The obstacle on pickup day was the trailer coupler, rusted solid to the hitch ball from years of sitting still, so we had to cut it free before we could tow anything. Once disconnected and onto our rig, the rest was quick.
