Hauling a runabout out of a Lancaster driveway

A 17 ft Glasspar Seafair runabout sat in a Lancaster driveway for years, its fiberglass hull sun-checked and chalky, the cabin headliner sagging, and the engine long past any hope of turning over. The boat had been a sixties classic once. Now it was just taking up space. The vintage trailer underneath it had collapsed years ago, so the hull was resting on concrete blocks and rotting wood. We got the call on a Tuesday. The owner had finally decided to clear the driveway, but the boat wasn't going anywhere without help. The collapsed trailer meant we couldn't tow it out in the usual way. We brought a flatbed and a small crew. We built a temporary frame under the hull, lifted it carefully with airbags, and slid it onto the flatbed. The whole job ran most of a morning. We routed the hull to the recycler in Los Angeles County where it gets cut down for material recovery. We cover all of Los Angeles County: Los Angeles, Long Beach, Santa Clarita, Glendale, Palmdale, Pomona. Lancaster sits right in the middle of that range, and we move fast. Most pickups happen the same week you call. A lot of our work in Lancaster is seasonal, boats coming out of storage in spring, going back in before winter. We know the routes, we know the yards, and we show up when we say we will.
