Long Beach, CA: 20 ft Grady-White Gone in One Morning

This one was a 20 ft Grady-White 204 center console, fiberglass hull, sitting on a trailer with a rusted axle in a driveway in Long Beach. The console had cracked wide enough to worry about water getting into the wiring, and the owner told me the fuel tank had been suspect for a couple seasons. Nobody wanted to run gas through it to find out. The trailer was the real problem. That rusted axle meant we couldn't trust it to roll on its own tires for any real distance, so my crew winched the boat onto our flatbed right where it sat instead of trying to tow the original trailer out. There was no title in the drawer, and we handled that part per the California paperwork rules before we even loaded the hull. Between the winch work and getting the boat strapped down clean, we were done in under an hour. We routed it out toward Santa Clarita to the facility that takes fiberglass hulls for cutdown, and that Grady-White got broken down for recycling within the week.
