Macon, GA: 23 ft Hunter Gone in One Morning

A 23 ft Hunter 23.5 had been sitting in a Bibb County yard for two winters after the water ballast tank cracked and the owner decided the repair wasn't worth it. The fiberglass hull was still sound, but the original trailer had rusted through at the frame welds, and the keel was locked in place by corrosion and time. We showed up with a crane and a flatbed, because you can't tow a sailboat on a trailer that'll collapse the moment you put weight on it. The mast came down first, then we had to cut the keel free at the yard before we could lift the hull. The whole operation took most of a morning. Once the boat was on the flatbed, we hauled it down to our processor near the Georgia-Alabama line, where the keel gets separated and the fiberglass hull goes through the grinder.
