Hauling a sportfisher out of a Brookhaven salvage job

A 28 ft Bertram 28 sportfisher sat in a Brookhaven yard with twin engines seized solid and a cockpit sole that had gone soft from years of standing water. No trailer underneath it. The fiberglass hull was sound, but the boat had been parked long enough that the owner had moved on and decided it was time to stop looking at it from the kitchen window. We got the call on a Tuesday. The challenge wasn't the boat itself,it was access. The driveway was narrow, and we'd need to get a heavy-duty rotator and flatbed in there without tearing up the yard or clipping the fence. We staged the truck on the street, ran a crane line across the property, and lifted the whole rig in sections. Most of a morning's work, start to finish. The hull went to a DeKalb County recycler who handles marine fiberglass and salvage aluminum. The engines came off separately and went to the scrap yard. We cover all of DeKalb County: Atlanta, Stonecrest, Dunwoody, Tucker, Redan, Chamblee. Most jobs we schedule within the same week. A lot of what we see in the Brookhaven area is seasonal storage overflow, boats people moved to a facility and then decided against keeping. We load it, haul it out, and handle the paperwork. One call and it's done.
