Sunken Cuddy Cabin Recovery in Fort Walton Beach

How we raised the 24 ft Formula 242 came down to the stringers rotted under the cockpit floor. She had gone down at the ramp with gunwales level with the water, and the hull was flexing like a wet cardboard box.
A weak hull will fold when it is lifted from the wrong points. So we used a spreader beam across the lift bags to spread the load, and set the bags along the full length of the hull. A diver held the straps off the soft spots. She came up flat and stayed intact.
We were done in half a morning. Sunken boat removal on a soft hull works if the lift is slow. The stringers were gone and the transom was cracked, so the Formula went through Niceville to our yard on a trailer for dismantling and recycling. We kept the engine and gauges for salvage, and the tow from the ramp was short.

Crews cover Okaloosa County: Crestview, Destin, Niceville, Wright. Okaloosa crews cover the coast and the roads inland. A boat blocking a ramp gets a quick response, and most raises here happen within the week we are called. Tell us whether the hull is flexing and how it sits at the ramp edge, and we match the rigging to it. Most calls here become a raise before the weekend, and the haul runs along the main inland road.
