Hauling a runabout out of a Skokie driveway

A 16 ft Glastron Swinger sat in a Cook County driveway for years, its original orange metal-flake hull dulled to grey. The trailer underneath had a bent single axle, and the whole rig had settled into the concrete like it planned to stay. The owner had bought it thinking he'd take it out on weekends. That was a decade back. By the time he called us, the boat wasn't going anywhere under its own power, and neither was the trailer. The challenge wasn't the boat itself. It was the trailer. A bent axle means you can't roll it straight, and you can't trust it to hold together under tow. We disconnected the hull from the frame, loaded the Glastron onto our flatbed, and hauled the trailer separately on a different truck. The whole job ran under two hours. No title in the drawer, so we handled it per Illinois salvage rules. The hull went to the processor in the Chicago area for breaking and recycling. Crews cover all of Cook County: Chicago, Proviso, Maine, Elgin, Hanover, Orland. We pull boats out same week in most cases, and we know the seasonal rhythm around Skokie. Boats move in and out of storage facilities and driveways all year, and we're set up to handle that flow without the wait.
