Sunken Aft Cabin Cruiser Recovery in Brent

Leaking windows had let the interior of the 28 ft Carver 28 aft cabin cruiser give up long before I arrived. She sat tied up near a boat ramp, filled quietly with rainwater, and ended up with her gunwales level with the water. A fisherman reported it.
This was sunken boat recovery with a lot of dead weight inside. Wet carpet, cabinets, and insulation held hundreds of pounds of water. Before lifting, our crew worked from a skiff and pulled out what came loose by hand. Then lift bags went on at the gunwales, and the Carver rose slowly until she stood on her own lines.
Most of a morning. We kept the truck off the ramp until she was ready, then pulled her onto the shelf with the Pensacola traffic behind us. The interior was ruined and the hull was soft, so she went to our yard for dismantling and recycling after the tow. Salvage was the running gear.

Crews cover Escambia County: Ensley, Ferry Pass, Myrtle Grove, Pensacola. A hull awash at a public ramp gets moved to the front of our week and we usually have a crew and a flatbed there within days. Ramp approaches get a walk-through first, so the truck never backs in blind.
