Boat Hauling in Grand Isle, Vermont

Ice heaves had cracked the trailer frame under a Lund sitting near Grand Isle before anyone thought to move it for the season. The boat had been left in the water too late one fall, froze in partway, and by the time it was hauled the following spring a seam along the hull had opened up enough to leak steadily. Motor troubles came on top of that, the lower unit seized after sitting half submerged all winter, so it wasn't running under its own power anymore either. The ramp access made the pull tricky, ice-heaved concrete had left a lip a couple inches high right where the trailer needed to roll through, enough to catch a wheel if you weren't careful. We eased it over slow with a spotter guiding the angle. Once loaded, we separated the aluminum hull for recycling and scrapped the motor as non-repairable.

Crews cover all of Grand Isle County: Alburgh, Grand Isle, Isle La Motte, North Hero, and South Hero, the full island chain on Lake Champlain, all sit inside our regular route. Ramp haul-outs here spike every spring once ice damage from the winter becomes obvious. Chittenden County gets the same coverage, so a call from Burlington or Colchester rides along on the same trip across the causeway.
