Hauling a fishing boat out of a Champaign driveway

A 16 ft Crestliner 1650 fishing boat was sitting in someone's driveway in Champaign County with bench seats stripped out and the hull full of leaves. The aluminum frame was still solid, but the trailer tongue had bent years ago, which meant the boat couldn't roll anywhere on its own. It'd been parked there long enough that the neighbors started noticing. When we got the call, the first thing was figuring out how to move it without the trailer working. The driveway was tight, and the boat was heavy enough that we couldn't just drag it by hand. We brought a equipment trailer with a winch, backed it in from the street side, and used the winch to pull the Crestliner onto our deck. The whole operation took most of a morning. Once it was loaded and secured, we had the aluminum hull recycled at the scrap yard outside Urbana. No title in the drawer, so we handled the paperwork per Illinois boat removal rules. The driveway's clear now. Crews cover all of Champaign County: Champaign City, Urbana, Cunningham, Rantoul, Mahomet, Savoy. We handle pickups the same week you call most of the time. A lot of boats end up in storage around here through the winter, then owners decide they're done with them come spring. We've pulled plenty of 16-footers off blocks in garages and out of rental yards when people realize they're not going back in the water.
