Coon Rapids, MN: 18 ft Checkmate Predictor Gone in One Morning

An 18 ft Checkmate Predictor ski boat had been sitting in a Coon Rapids yard for three seasons. The go-fast paint had faded to a chalky white, and the outboard seized solid the last time someone tried to crank it. The single-axle trailer underneath had rusted through in spots, and one tire was flat enough that the rim sat on the ground. The owner had kept it thinking he'd get back to skiing. He didn't. When he finally called, the boat was wedged between a fence line and a storage shed, which meant we couldn't just back a trailer straight in. We came with a rotator lift and a spotter to thread it through the tight space, then loaded it onto our flatbed. Most of a morning, start to finish. The title paperwork was missing, but Minnesota rules let us handle that on our end. Once we had it at the processor in Anoka County, the fiberglass hull went into the recycling stream.
