Deerfield Beach, FL: 28 ft Bertram Gone in One Morning

A 28 ft Bertram 28 sportfisher with twin engines that wouldn't turn over and a cockpit sole so soft it was sinking into the hull came in on a salvage referral from a Broward County marine surveyor. The boat had been sitting in a private slip for three years after the owner lost interest, and saltwater had done what neglect couldn't finish. No trailer, no title in the drawer, handled per the Florida rules, and the weight was pushing 18,000 pounds wet. Getting it out of the slip meant dealing with fixed pilings and a narrow fairway that killed any angle for a standard crane lift. We brought a smaller marine crane and worked the boat off the pilings with come-alongs and a lot of patience, then floated it to an open mooring field. From there, a heavy-haul truck with a specialized marine trailer met us at a Fort Lauderdale ramp. Most of a morning, start to finish. The hull went to the certified fiberglass processor in Broward County. The engines were salvage-yard stock,no value, but the aluminum hardware and fittings came off before the cut, and the rest became feedstock. We cover all of Broward County: Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Miramar, Coral Springs, Pompano Beach. Deerfield Beach sits right in the middle of our regular route, which means same-week pickup most of the time. We see a lot of seasonal traffic here, boats coming in and out of storage, people moving up from Miami or heading north for the summer. We're set up to handle that rhythm and get your Bertram off the property fast.
