20 ft Grady-White Removal in Downers Grove, IL

A 20 ft Grady-White 204 center console had been parked in a Downers Grove driveway for three years. The fiberglass hull was sound, but the console had cracked from freeze-thaw cycles, and the fuel tank had gone suspect. The trailer's axle had rusted through enough that moving it under its own weight wasn't safe. The real problem was access. The boat sat on the side yard between the house and the neighbor's fence, with maybe eighteen inches of clearance on either side. We couldn't angle a standard trailer in or back a truck close enough to winch. We brought a smaller recovery rig, disconnected the boat from the trailer frame, and hand-loaded it onto a custom flatbed using come-alongs and blocking. The whole operation ran under two hours. Once the Grady-White was secured on the truck, the trailer stayed behind for separate pickup. The boat itself went to a DuPage County recycling facility that handles fiberglass marine hulls.
