Proviso, IL: 20 ft Galaxy Gone in One Morning

A 20 ft Galaxy 2000 bowrider sat in a Proviso yard, fiberglass hull half-dismantled by a previous owner who'd run out of time, money, or both. No trailer underneath it. The boat was dead weight on bare ground, and the longer it stayed, the deeper it settled into the soil. Getting it out meant we couldn't roll it. We brought a heavy-duty rotator and air bags, set up blocks under the keel, and lifted the whole hull enough to slide a low-bed trailer underneath. The fiberglass had soft spots where water had pooled, so we moved slow and kept the load balanced. Most of a morning from first chains to full departure. Once we had it secured, the boat went to a salvage yard that handles composite hulls. The metal hardware came out, the fiberglass got separated and processed, and what couldn't be recycled was disposed of per Cook County rules. The yard was clear, and the boat's next life started without the owner having to think about it again.
