Hauling a sailboat out of a Racine storage lot

A 27 ft Catalina 27 showed up in a Racine County yard where it had been sitting for years on wooden stands. The standing rigging was seized solid, and the sails had rotted inside their bag. No one was coming to claim it, and the property owner was done looking at it every morning. The boat was fiberglass, heavy, and the trailer underneath had settled into the ground. Getting it mobile meant stabilizing the hull first, then jacking the whole rig up enough to slide a modern trailer underneath. We brought in a crane to handle the weight and the awkward geometry. Once we had it loaded and secured, the haul to our Wisconsin yard took most of a morning. The mast came down at the shop, and we pulled the keel before sending the hull to be cut and processed.
