Hauling a sailboat out of a Vacaville yard

The Ericson 27 was a fiberglass hull with crazed portlights and an interior that had been stripped bare by someone years before. It sat on wooden stands in a residential yard in Vacaville, and the owner had stopped looking at it long ago. Sailboats that don't move tend to gather neglect faster than powerboats, and this one had. The mast was already down, which saved time, but the keel was still in the boat and the whole rig needed to come out at our yard before anything else could happen. Getting it off the stands without a trailer meant we brought our own gear and built a temporary cradle to shift the weight safely. The access was tight, typical of a neighborhood lot, but we had the hull loaded and headed south toward Vallejo in under two hours. Once at the yard, we pulled the keel, cut the hull down to recyclable fiberglass and resin, and routed the material to the processor. The stands got hauled separately. No title in the drawer, handled per the California rules. Crews cover all of Solano County: Vallejo, Fairfield, Suisun City, Benicia, Dixon, Rio Vista. We handle pickups same week most of the time, depending on what's already on the schedule. A lot of boats move in and out of storage around here, especially heading into spring or after the season wraps, so we've built the logistics to get them out fast without the wait.
