Waukesha, WI: 27 ft Cal Gone in One Morning

A 27 ft Cal 27 showed up on a driveway in Waukesha County with the boom missing and the mast corroded at the step. The boat had been parked on stands for years, and the owner had finally decided it wasn't coming back. We got the call, assessed the rig, and knew the challenge right away: the mast was down but still attached, the keel was going to need to come out at our yard, and the whole thing was deadweight on a trailer that hadn't moved in a long time. The crew showed up early and worked the boat off the stands with a crane and a dolly system. Getting it onto the truck took most of a morning because we had to work around the corroded mast step and make sure the keel wouldn't shift during the drive. We routed it toward the processor in the direction of Brookfield to avoid residential bottlenecks. Once it hit the yard, we pulled the keel, cut the hull down to manageable pieces, and sent the fiberglass and hardware to the appropriate recyclers. Title paperwork was handled per Wisconsin rules.
