Hauling a cabin cruiser out of a Cedar Rapids pickup

A 24 ft Maxum 2400 SCR cabin cruiser sat in a driveway in Cedar Rapids for three years. The hull had chalked white, and the transom had gone soft, you could push your thumb into it. The trailer underneath was rust through, frame rotted enough that the axle had started to sag. The owner had stopped using it around the time the engine seized. He'd meant to fix it that winter, then the next winter, then he just stopped walking past it. By the time he called us, the boat had become part of the landscape, and his wife had made it clear it needed to go. No title in the drawer, so we handled the paperwork per Iowa law. The soft transom meant we couldn't use a standard winch pull without risking a breach. We brought the boat out on a custom frame, supported the hull at three points, and loaded it onto the flatbed under an hour. The Maxum went to the processor in Marion, where the fiberglass and hardware got sorted for recycling. The trailer stayed behind for scrap. We cover all of Linn County: Marion, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins, Fairfax, Center Point. Most pickups happen within a week of your call. A lot of boat owners around Cedar Rapids pull their rigs into storage for the off-season, and when spring comes around and they realize they're not getting back out there, that's when we hear from them. We handle those moves in and out of storage facilities just like we handle everything else.
