Sunken Boat Removal in Bayou La Batre, AL

Storm surge doesn't ask permission before it takes a boat off its blocks. This one got picked up off a trailer during a fall storm and dropped stern-first into the canal behind the property, half sunk by the time the water pulled back. The owner had been trying to sell it for two seasons already, so once it went under, nobody had the stomach to deal with it themselves. What made the pull tricky was the mud. The hull had settled into soft bottom and every strap we set kept slipping, so we switched to a wide sling and worked it out at an angle instead of straight up. Took most of a morning. Once it was on the trailer we could see the transom had cracked clean through. No saving that one. It went straight to the recycler as scrap fiberglass, and the canal's clear again.
