Tinley Park, IL: 21 ft Thompson Gone in One Morning

A 21 ft Thompson 21 cuddy cabin had been sitting in a Cook County driveway for years. The outdrive was long gone, never put back, and the single-axle trailer underneath it had bent so far out of true that moving the rig without a heavy-duty rotator and a second winch line would've snapped something in the hull or torn the frame worse than it already was. The boat was wedged in tight between a garage corner and a fence line, with maybe eight feet of clearance before the property line hit a neighbor's fence. We came in with a rotator, set up dual anchor points on the bent trailer frame, and worked it out at an angle over the course of a morning. The Thompson didn't see water again. We hauled it to the processor in the Chicago area where the fiberglass hull went to be cut and recycled, and the aluminum trailer got scrapped.
