Hauling a ski boat out of a Council Bluffs driveway

An 18 ft Checkmate Predictor sat in a driveway in Council Bluffs for three years. The outboard was seized solid, the go-fast paint had faded to a dull gray, and the single-axle trailer underneath had rusted through in spots. The owner had bought it to ski on summer weekends. That was a long time ago. The real problem wasn't the boat itself,it was the trailer. Those corroded wheels weren't turning, and the driveway sloped toward the street at an angle that meant we couldn't just winch it straight out. We brought a second truck, set up a pull from the front bumper at a different angle, and let the weight do most of the work. Once the trailer broke loose, it rolled. Under an hour from arrival to having the hull loaded and ready for the processor in Pottawattamie County. The Checkmate got cut down at the recycling facility. Fiberglass, aluminum hardware, and what was left of the engine went to their respective streams. The owner got a document showing it was gone. Crews cover all of Pottawattamie County: Carter Lake, Oakland, Avoca, Treynor, Underwood, Neola. We handle pickups same week most of the time. A lot of boats move in and out of storage around here, especially when the season changes, and we've got the routes down. You call Tuesday, we're usually there by Friday.
