Hauling a cabin cruiser out of a Greenwood salvage job

A 23 ft Chris-Craft Cavalier sat in a barn outside Greenwood for so long that decades of dust had settled into every corner. The fiberglass hull had a cracked keel strip running the length of the bottom, and there was no trailer underneath it. The owner had inherited the cabin cruiser and didn't know what to do with it, so it stayed put until he decided to call. Getting it out meant more than just showing up with a flatbed. We had to assess the hull integrity, rig a system to lift the boat off the barn floor without punching through the compromised keel, and maneuver a 23-footer through a narrow barn door and across property that wasn't built for heavy equipment. The crew worked most of a morning to get it stabilized, loaded, and ready for transport to the salvage yard in Johnson County where it could be properly dismantled. Once the hull reached the processor, the fiberglass was sorted for recycling, the fittings were salvaged where possible, and what couldn't be reused was disposed of responsibly.
